Dining With Duncan

This week, I've prepared a quick recipe that will elevate your breakfast experience from "eat and run" to "a little bite of elegance with which to start the day."

For a well-topped bagel, first add cream cheese. Then add your favorite jelly. Apple butter works remarkably well.

And now, a big surprise:

Our First Helpful Hint

As a special bonus feature, I will be including helpful household hints whenever the mood strikes. These will mainly deal with the organization and decoration of your dorm room, but could involve any number of topics.

Helpful Hint #1: "Can" you say storage?

After finishing with a can of something, we often mindlessly recycle it without thinking of the many ways to reuse it. There are some lovely cans out there, from the classic Coke cans to new trendy coffee drink cans. Why throw them away if they can become helpful storage items?

Here's what you do:
Finish the soda, soup, etc. If not already off, take the top off with a manual can opener (soda tops come off surprisingly well). Make sure there are no sharp edges. Wash the can and dry it. Use it to store pencils, pens, rubber bands, silverware… endless possibilities!
